Bocas del Toro "Isla Colón" International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Bocas del Toro "Isla Colón") (IATA: BOC, ICAO: MPBO) is a public airport located 1.5 km (0.93 mi) northwest of the center of Bocas del Toro, a town on Isla Colón (Colón Island) in the Bocas del Toro Province of Panama.[1] The airport has a single runway with no taxiway. A small terminal exists at the east end of the runway.[4] International arrivals must clear Panamanian customs at the airport. Taxis and telephones are available.[1] Few, if any, other services are available. No aviation fuel is available. The airport operates from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.[1]
The airport has no control tower, runway lights, or approach lights.[1] The runway is aligned in an east-west direction and designated runway 08/26. The runway measures 1,500 × 26 m (4,921 × 85 ft).[2] There is no apron or turn-around at the west end of the runway.[4] The airport can only accommodate smaller aircraft and the runway is limited to aircraft under 26,500 lb (12,000 kg).[1]
The airport does not have filtered or treated water. The town does not filter or treat its water. Visitors should drink only bottled water.
As of 24 May 2009, leading travel sites Expedia and Travelocity do not recognize Bocas del Toro as a valid airport using city, airport name, or airport codes ([BOC, MPBO).
